They say that there is a time limit to the ability of a woman to conceive. While this statement is generally true, the actual time limit may be much later than the one that is popularly held by society. Nowadays, it is generally believed that it is already hard to conceive a baby when you've already hit the age of 30.

While in the news, we regularly hear about women 40 and above getting pregnant and giving birth normally like any other women. And most likely there are more women aged 40 and above out there getting pregnant who do not make the news. This just means one thing, that getting pregnant over 40 is not only possible, it is actually normal.

The belief that women over 40 are almost impossible to conceive is just a product of wrong information about the ability of older women to get pregnant. One of the more popular misconceptions about getting pregnant over 40 says that females who conceive late are more prone to conditions such as preeclampsia, diabetes and premature delivery. Some people also say that if you get pregnant over 40 it is for certain that you will deliver through a c-section. The most prevalent of the misconceptions about getting pregnant over 40 though is the prevalence of birth defects. People say that women who conceive late will give birth to children with birth defects or physical abnormalities.

What people must know is that none of the beliefs about getting pregnant over 40 stated above has any scientific basis. What these beliefs do is put fear in the hearts of women over 40 who are conceiving or is planning to. Some physicians do not help either. By making it seem like getting pregnant over 40 is a sensitive issue, these doctors only add to the belief that it is not advisable for women over 40 to get pregnant.

If you are 40 and you want to get pregnant then go for it. Just keep yourself healthy all the time and for sure you will have a healthy pregnancy too
